Examining honor at Princeton

Eisgruber sat down with about 20 undergraduates over lunch last Friday at Forbes College to discuss Kwame Anthony Appiah’s “The Honor Code: How Moral Revolutions Happen.”

Sunday’s installation ceremony included remarks from students, faculty, staff and guests, and a heartfelt address by President Eisgruber underscoring Princeton’s influence on him, and in turn, his devotion to the University. Following the installation, the University community gathered for a reception and concert.

Russel to step down as Graduate School dean

russel2_162William Russel, who has served as dean of the Graduate School since 2002, has announced that this will be his final year as dean. After a year’s sabbatical, Russel, the Arthur W. Marks ’19 Professor of Chemical Engineering, intends to transfer to emeritus status. He has been a member of the Princeton faculty since 1974.

Egging on innovation

eggResearchers at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory and the U.S. Department of Agriculture have developed a new technique and device for rapidly pasteurizing eggs in the shell, which could lead to a sharp reduction in illnesses caused by egg-borne salmonella bacteria.

andromedaPrinceton researchers were part of an international collaboration to produce stunning images of the Andromeda Galaxy using the new Hyper-Suprime Cam installed on the enormous Subaru Telescope atop Mauna Kea in Hawaii, helping scientists understand the evolutionary history and fate of the expanding universe.
